TL;DR
The Sagrada Família opens Monday to Saturday at 9:00 AM and on Sundays at 10:30 AM. Standard closing time is 7:00 PM, extended to 8:00 PM in summer. It closes on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Always book a timed-entry ticket in advance since walk-up availability is extremely limited, especially from April through September.
Opening hours change by season. This page has the 2025 schedule, seasonal variations, and the best time slots to book for the fewest crowds.

Do I Need to Book a Specific Time Slot?
Yes. All Sagrada Família tickets are timed-entry, meaning you book a specific hour slot (e.g., 9:00 AM or 11:30 AM) rather than an open-access pass. Slots sell out days or weeks ahead from April through September. Walk-up tickets at the door are extremely rare and cannot be relied on.
The timed-entry system was introduced to manage the 10,000+ daily visitors the Sagrada Família receives in peak season. It's actually good news for you: once you have a slot, you walk straight in through the priority entrance with no waiting.
In quieter months (November through February), you can sometimes book tickets 1–2 days ahead. In summer, aim for 2–3 weeks minimum. See our full guide on the best time to visit the Sagrada Família for crowd data by month and hour.
What Is the Best Time Slot to Book?
The 9:00 AM opening slot is consistently the best. You get the building before tour groups arrive, the morning sun enters through the east-facing Nativity stained glass (the most spectacular light in the building), and you can photograph the interior without crowds blocking your shots.
The next best option is a late afternoon slot: around 5:00–6:00 PM. The building thins out, and the west-facing Passion stained glass is dramatically lit by the setting sun. This is also the best photography slot for the exterior Passion façade.
Avoid the 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM window if you can. That's when coach tours and cruise ship visitors arrive in volume. Learn more in our complete Sagrada Família tips guide.
